Where Do We Begin

Where do we begin? We moved away from Charlotte to find a change. The change has been great, but at times, it has been overwhelming.

I spent years traveling working in IT setting up and installing new equipment, training client personnel, and integrating of software into client environments. It is a job I do well as it is a mental challenge.

When COVID-19 struck, I, along with many others, went to a remote model where we could work from home. This was a massive increase in productivity for a person with my kind of work. I did not have to touch anything other than a keyboard. There was no need to waste time traveling to and from work. The Times I could work became much more flexible. However, these benefits don’t come without some penalty.

I still love what I do however, over the years the lack of physical demand had an ill effect on my health and motivation. I needed to overcome these issues before they caused me an early death. Covid has offered a new way to live. Communication in rule areas became a possibility due to SkyLink and 5g cell towers offering data-only plans. No longer was I stuck to live in a metropolitan just to have high-speed internet. With that, I thought what better way than to find a few acres outside of the metro cities and we landed in Blacksburg, SC. Fouty five to Ninety minutes from 4 airports, High-speed internet, and open land.

So, 3 years later is it everything we hoped for? Not really however we are still pushing forward. I know my place in the IT world but back in rural America, I am still searching. Farming was the first project. I thought how hard this can be, this has really opened my eyes. To grow plants is not a simple task. It takes a level of wisdom I have yet to achieve. We are full of ideas just looking for that one that fits our skills.

This brings us to today, I have always had a fondness for making things by hand, and at the same time I am great with computers. We have slowly been working to start a family business, and I have spent the last 2 years gathering equipment and ideas. So, we would like to officially open up and share our journey from nothing but a handful of ideas to what I hope will be a thriving family adventure.
